The TD 1500 is a fully manual turntable that revives the suspended subchassis layout of the TD 150. Three conical springs isolate the platter and tonearm board from the motor and plinth, and the springs can be adjusted from above through openings in the platter. A polished precision belt drives a 1.4 kg, 22 mm thick die-cast aluminium platter.
A DC motor is monitored by an incremental encoder, which corrects speed deviations such as those caused by a record brush. The TP 150 tonearm has an effective mass of 14 grams, adjustable height (VTA) and azimuth, and a standard SME connector. Anti-skating is set with a movable weight in the tonearm base, connected by a nylon thread running over a ruby bearing.
The turntable comes with an Ortofon 2M Bronze moving magnet cartridge with a nude Fine Line diamond stylus. Signal leaves through unbalanced RCA outputs or balanced XLR outputs; the XLR route is intended for use with a suitable moving coil cartridge.
