The KSM11 is a handheld vocal microphone built around a proprietary condenser cartridge with a 3/4" gold diaphragm and high-grade electronics. It was designed with digital live systems in mind, where more linear response across the frequency range is available. The voicing combines a full low end, a rich midrange and detailed highs, which gives engineers a vocal signal they can mix around without corrective EQ.
The cardioid polar pattern is described as deep and highly consistent, which limits off-axis phase distortion and rejects sound from the sides and rear. A suspended isolation system cuts handling noise to a minimum. The grille is made of dent-resistant hardened steel and contains a three-stage pop filter that reduces plosives.
The microphone is sold under the SKU KSM11B/C. Related wireless capsule versions exist for the KSM11 in black (RPW192) and nickel (RPW194), so the same cartridge design can be used on compatible Shure wireless transmitters.
