S-4
The S-4 is a 3-way floorstanding loudspeaker from QUAD's S Series, combining a 45 x 12mm ribbon tweeter with Kevlar bass and midrange drivers in an ABR-loaded cabinet. It suits hi-fi listeners who want a full-range stereo speaker driven by a 40-200W amplifier.

The S-4 is a three-way floorstanding speaker in the QUAD S Series. A true ribbon treble unit handles the top end, a 100mm woven Kevlar driver covers the midrange, and two 125mm woven Kevlar drivers handle the bass. The crossover points are 520Hz and 3.9kHz.
The cabinet is an ABR (auxiliary bass radiator) design with three 125mm radiators. It holds 47.0 litres and gives a stated bass extension of 37Hz at -6dB. Frequency response is 44Hz to 23kHz (+/-3dB). Sensitivity is 88dB, and the nominal impedance is 6Ω with a 3.5Ω minimum. The recommended amplifier power is 40-200W.
The speaker stands 870mm tall plus a 55mm base allowance, and weighs 20.5kg. It is offered in Black Oak, Sapele Mahogany, Piano Black and Piano White finishes. A brochure and a manual are available to download.
