The TX-RZ50 is an AV receiver that rates 120 W per channel into 8 ohms with two channels driven. It provides 11.2-channel processing with pre-outs for 7.2.4 layouts, and decodes Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. It is THX certified with four listening modes (cinema, gaming, music and surround EX) and carries IMAX Enhanced certification. Dirac Live room correction is built in and works with the supplied wired measurement microphone or a third-party USB microphone through the PC or Mac application. A Klipsch Optimize Mode applies preset crossover values for selected Klipsch Reference and Reference Premiere speakers.
Video is handled by HDMI 2.1 inputs and outputs that support 8K60 and 4K120, VRR, ALLM, QFT, DSC, QMS and eARC on the main output. A second HDMI output can feed a separate display in Zone 2, and the receiver also has powered Zone 2 and Zone 3 outputs plus a Zone 2/Zone B line-out.
For network and wireless use it offers dual-band Wi-Fi, AirPlay 2, Chromecast built-in, DTS Play-Fi and Works with Sonos certification, along with Spotify, Amazon Music HD, Pandora, TIDAL, Deezer and TuneIn. Bluetooth works in both directions: it receives audio over SBC or AAC and transmits to headphones over SBC, aptX or aptX HD. Voice control with Alexa or Google requires a separate third-party device.
