RSM 191
Stereo shotgun microphone system working in mid/side technique, supplied with an MTX 191 A matrix amplifier that can output MS or XY. Intended for broadcast, film and location sound where stereo width must follow the camera angle.
- Mid/side shotgun mic, switchable to XY output
- Six stereo width steps of 3 dB via MTX 191 A matrix box
- Switchable 10 dB attenuation
- High-pass filter at 40, 80 and 200 Hz
- P48 phantom or 9 V battery, about 8 hours
- Supplied in aluminum case with windscreen and cables

The RSM 191 A Set combines a short shotgun microphone with an MTX 191 A matrix amplifier. The microphone holds two capsule systems: an interference-tube element with a lobe-shaped pattern for the mid signal and a horizontal figure-8 assembly for the side signal. The capsule assembly sits in an acoustically open housing tube with high flow resistance, and the internal construction is decoupled from the housing to reduce handling and structure-borne noise.
The matrix amplifier sets the stereo image width by changing the side signal level against the mid signal in six 3 dB steps, and the acceptance angle is controlled remotely. Outputs can be MS or left/right XY. The matrix box also has a switchable 10 dB attenuation and a high-pass filter with 40 Hz, 80 Hz and 200 Hz cutoff settings.
Power comes from 2 x P48 phantom power or a 9 V battery inside the matrix box, which gives about 8 hours on one alkaline cell. The balanced, transformerless design allows long cable runs. The system ships in an aluminum carrying case with a windscreen, an interconnecting cable and an adapter that splits the 5-pin XLR output into two 3-pin XLR connectors.
