Lizard Queen

The Lizard Queen is a fixed-gain fuzz built around a transistor-based octave-up circuit. Josh Scott of JHS Pedals first showed the design on the JHS Show in 2022, and Electro-Harmonix engineers then turned it into a Nano-format pedal. The enclosure carries 1970s-style EHX artwork by graphic designer Daniel Danger.

Three controls shape the sound. Volume sets the output level. Octave blends the octave-up signal in, from none to full. Balance moves the tone between Shadow, a dark and smooth sustaining fuzz, and Sun, a brighter, raspy and biting fuzz. The Balance control is most noticeable when the Octave knob is set high.

The pedal has a single input jack and an amp output jack, and it uses true bypass, so in bypass the output is wired directly to the input. A status LED lights when the effect is on. Power comes from an included 9V battery or an optional center-negative 9V DC adapter on the power jack. Current draw is 5mA, and the supply should not exceed 12V DC.
