Holy Stain

The Holy Stain is built from two stages: an analog distortion section and a digital signal processing section. The distortion stage has a three-position Dirt switch (Clean, Fuzz, Drive), and the DSP stage provides four effects: room reverb, hall reverb, pitch shift and tremolo. One distortion mode and one DSP mode can be active at the same time, and either stage can be bypassed.

A Mix knob sets the balance between the distortion output and the DSP output, while the Amount knob adjusts the main parameter of whichever DSP effect is selected. Volume sets the level of the distortion stage, Tone shifts the balance between bass and treble around its centre position, and a Color switch selects Bright, Dark or Warm voicing. A Mode footswitch with LEDs steps through the four DSP effects, and a separate footswitch toggles the effect on and off.

The pedal has a mono 1/4" input and output, plus a 1/4" TRS jack for an expression pedal, which takes over the Amount knob to control pitch shift, reverb time or tremolo rate. It is housed in a die-cast chassis and ships with a power adapter. It was released in 2008 and discontinued in 2022.
