Kann Ultra
KANN ULTRA is a portable Android-based digital audio player from Astell&Kern with dual ES9039MPRO DACs and headphone output up to 16Vrms balanced. It is aimed at listeners who need to drive demanding headphones and IEMs, or feed external amps, from a single portable device.

KANN ULTRA is the fifth player in the KANN series and the most powerful in the Astell&Kern range. It uses two ESS ES9039MPRO DAC chips and an octa-core processor, and plays PCM up to 32bit/768kHz and native DSD512. Four gain presets on the headphone output reach 8Vrms unbalanced and 16Vrms balanced with no load.
The player has a Triple Output design: a headphone output, a pre-out and a line-out. The headphone amplifier is separate from the circuit behind the shared Pre/Line Out port. In Pre-Out mode the volume wheel controls the level. In Line Out mode the DAC signal is sent directly with a fixed level and no volume control. Sound can be shaped with seven DAC filters, Digital Audio Remaster upsampling, Crossfeed and ReplayGain.
The aluminum body has a 5.5-inch Full HD touchscreen, 128GB of built-in memory and a microSD slot. It connects over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.3 (aptX HD, LDAC, LHDC), with USB-C for charging and for use with a computer. AK File Drop handles wireless file transfer, and Roon Ready and Roon ARC are supported. Firmware updates are delivered over the air.
