The US-144MKII is a four-input, four-output USB audio interface that records at up to 96 kHz and 24 bit. Two XLR microphone preamps with phantom power sit alongside a pair of balanced line inputs and a guitar-level input for connecting an electric guitar or bass directly. A pair of S/PDIF digital inputs and outputs completes the four-in, four-out layout.
Zero-latency monitoring lets the performer hear the input without the round trip through the computer. Line outputs feed monitors, while a front-panel 1/4" stereo jack serves headphones, and the line and headphone levels have separate controls, so monitors need not be muted when switching to headphones. MIDI In and Out DIN jacks allow synths and drum machines to be connected. The housing uses metal components for portable use.
The unit connects to Mac and Windows computers over USB 2.0 and draws its power from the USB bus. Cubase LE from Steinberg is bundled, and drivers cover WDM, ASIO and GSIF2 on Windows and Core Audio on Mac. The maker lists the model as discontinued and replaced by the US-2x2HR.
