The FW-1804 is a discontinued 18-in/12-out FireWire audio and MIDI interface in a 19-inch rackmount format, developed by TASCAM with Frontier Design Group. It suits home and project studios that need mic/line, digital and MIDI connections to a computer.

The FW-1804 is a rackmount computer interface that brings audio and MIDI features of the larger FW-1884 into a smaller chassis. It records at up to 96kHz/24-bit and provides 18 inputs and 12 outputs. Analog inputs comprise four combo XLR/TRS mic/line inputs with phantom power and four balanced TRS line inputs, with insert jacks on channels 1-4.
Digital connectivity includes S/PDIF and ADAT input and output, plus word clock in and out for synchronisation with other equipment. Balanced TRS monitor outputs and a headphone output with its own level control cover monitoring. For MIDI, there are two inputs and four outputs, and an assignable footswitch jack is provided.
The unit connects to the computer over FireWire. Drivers are listed for Windows and Mac OS, and the interface is described as compatible with Intel Macs. It ships with GigaStudio 3 LE and Steinberg Cubase LE, a 48-track 96kHz workstation. Listed host applications include Ableton Live, Cubase, Nuendo, Logic Pro, Final Cut Pro and Digital Performer.
