The IB2 SE is a passive three-way floorstanding speaker that comes from PMC's professional studio designs. A 10-inch (250mm) carbon fibre and Nomex piston driver handles bass, a 75mm soft dome covers the mid-range, and a 27mm ferrofluid-cooled Sonolex soft dome handles the treble. Crossover points are 380Hz and 3.8kHz.
Bass is loaded with PMC's Advanced Transmission Line (ATL) design, which has an effective line length of 2.4m (8ft). The maker presents this as a way to get deeper bass from a smaller cabinet than ported or sealed designs. Quoted frequency response is 25Hz to 25kHz, sensitivity is 89dB (1W, 1m) and nominal impedance is 4 ohms. Recommended amplifier power is 15 to 500W.
Connection is through three pairs of 4mm sockets, so the speaker can be tri-wired or tri-amplified. A matching IB2-C SE centre channel is available separately.
