The BB5 SE is a three-way passive floorstanding speaker built around a 15-inch (380 mm) Radial bass driver, a 75 mm soft-dome midrange and a 27 mm soft-dome tweeter. The bass driver works with PMC's Advanced Transmission Line (ATL) loading, which uses an effective line length of 4 m (13 ft) rather than a ported or sealed enclosure.
Quoted frequency response runs from 17 Hz to 25 kHz with a sensitivity of 92 dB (1 W, 1 m) and a nominal 4 ohm impedance. Recommended amplifier power is 10 to 700 W. The crossover points are 380 Hz and 3.8 kHz, and the tweeter is ferrofluid cooled.
The speaker has three pairs of 4 mm sockets, so it can be wired tri-wire or tri-amped. At 87 kg with a 19 kg stand, it is a heavy, large cabinet. A matching BB5-C SE centre channel model is also offered. A 20-year warranty applies when the product is registered within 10 days of purchase, subject to terms.
