R2 Meta

The R2 Meta is a passive, closed-box centre channel speaker with a three-way design. A coaxial Uni-Q array combines a 25 mm vented aluminium dome tweeter with a 125 mm aluminium cone midrange driver, while two 130 mm hybrid aluminium cone drivers handle bass. Crossover points are 560 Hz and 2.5 kHz. Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT) is built into the array to absorb rear-radiated sound from the driver and reduce distortion.

The cabinet is compact, at 175 x 550 x 309 mm and 15.4 kg, so it suits smaller rooms. It uses the same Uni-Q array size as the rest of the R Series for tonal matching with the floorstanding models, and it can serve as the centre speaker in a Left-Centre-Right arrangement. The bass drivers pair a shallow aluminium skin with a paper cone. Magnetic microfibre grilles are included, and the speaker is designed to be used with or without them.

As a passive speaker it needs an external amplifier rated for 15 to 200 W and connects through its speaker terminals. Nominal impedance is 4 ohms with a minimum of 3.2 ohms, and sensitivity is 87 dB. It is offered in Black Gloss, White Gloss and Walnut finishes.
