Formation Audio is a compact wireless audio hub that connects a conventional hi-fi system to a Formation multi-room network. It streams 24-bit/96kHz audio to the connected system and can also send analogue sources, such as a turntable, to Formation wireless speakers elsewhere in the home. Built-in analogue-to-digital and digital-to-analogue converters handle the conversion in both directions.
Streaming support includes Apple AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, Roon Ready and Bluetooth input with aptX HD, AAC and SBC codecs. Setup and control are handled through the Bowers & Wilkins Music app, which also provides access to compatible streaming services.
On the back panel there is a Toslink digital input, stereo RCA analogue input, a coaxial-style RCA digital output and stereo RCA analogue output. The network connection is either RJ45 Ethernet or WiFi, and a USB port is reserved for service. The unit is finished in black and is listed as archived.
